Club News & Events

AllClubSocialSquash and Squash 57Tennis

Welcome to the May edition of this brief supplementary club newsletter, exclusively for our women squash and racketball players.

New joiners

A warm welcome to Helen Galloway who recently joined. Great to see you already making progress in the box leagues Helen! And also welcome to the latest female additions from the Open Day yesterday. We look forward to seeing you at the Club very soon. Slowly but surely we are keeping the trend nudging upwards!

Congratulations to the Main sisters!

Natalie played a starting role at the recent Club Finals Day, winning both the Women’s Squash Open Squash and our (first ever) Women’s Racketball Open!  Great job by Chloe Spratt to also reach both finals, but hard lines for meeting her nemesis on the day.

The racketball event was run as a round-robin event on the day, with the leading 2 in a play-off for the final.  This seemed to work really well - we’ll do that again.

We were very pleased to present Lily with the 2022 Ryder Cup, which we award to the ‘junior’ member who contributed most in the preceding 12 months, through representing our club on and off the court.

Lily has been amazing, relaunching and captaining our women’s team, taking the Wednesday evening group when Grace is away competing, and now joining our Squash & Racketball Committee.  Thank-you Lily and well done!

Amazing Grace!

Talking of Grace, her upwards trajectory continues!

Grace’s tremendous results earned her the PSA Challenger Tour Player of the Month award for both November and December and she has continued this good form into 2022, reaching the final of a high quality event at the start of April, and rising to a new highest world ranking of 62 this month.

Grace is currently in the final stretch of a series of tournaments in Canada, Bermuda and America, playing in Boston next week.  Good luck in that Grace and we look forward to seeing you back!  Fingers crossed, World Top 50 beckons soon, helping you step up to the PSA World Tour events!

WEUROs

Off the subject of squash for a moment, the WEUROs are coming up in July.  England kick-off against Austria on Wednesday 6th July and we will be showing the game on the big screen.  We’re linking up with Raiders for the evening, with their Girls’ teams and all our tennis and squash Girls invited.  Should be an evening of girl power!

World class squash, here

And then the following day we start our 2022 Berkhamsted PSA Open, with some of the best men and women players in the world competing - including Grace.  Ticket sales will be launching soon.

The main season of team matches may have finished and Summer holidays may be looming, but do keep playing and enjoying your squash and racketball!

Signing off for now.
