Welcome to the Tennis Section

We are very proud to be a Tennis Clubmark certified Club. Tennis membership at BLT&SRC offers you year-round social and team tennis, a competitive singles league, regular tournaments for all levels, a very strong junior section. A large team of qualified tennis coaches run group coaching as well as one-to-one lessons. 

Facilities

The club has 2 indoor tennis courts and 11 outdoor tennis courts, 10 of which are floodlit. Our courts are a mixture of carpet, synthetic grass, artificial clay and tarmac surfaces.

The floodlights cost £4.60 per court per hour and are bookable through the kiosk at the Club only. Tennis facilities are available from 7am until 11pm daily.

Box Leagues

Club Night & Social Tennis

Tennis Club Night is every Tuesday evening from 7pm, all year round. Just turn up and play. If you are new to the Club or if you haven't been to Club night before, speak to Phil Trimmer (our Club Night organiser) when you arrive and he will show you the ropes! There is a nominal charge of £2 to cover floodlights. Tuesday mornings from 9.30am is Ladies Club Morning at Saturday mornings from 9am is Gents Club morning. Again, members just turn up and play.

The Club is currently trialling a method of organising beginner and intermediate level social tennis (mixed doubles) using text messages.  Initially, this will be for Monday evenings and Wednesday evenings only, subject to weather conditions. The Monday session will be aimed at beginner level players, but is also for anyone who is happy to play at a mixed ability level.  The Wednesday session will be for intermediate players, similar to a Tuesday night.  Start times would be at 7.30pm, but could be later if someone says they would prefer it.  People would be grouped into 4s, but could mix in with other 4s if there are more than one, and everyone would contribute to their lights as needed.  How long you play is up to you to decide with your group at the time.  If you would like your name/mobile number added to this group, then text Jennie Grant on the Tennis phone with your details.  The number is: 07534 344049.

We also run various social tennis activities throughout the year including a monthly American Tournament which takes place on the last Sunday of each month.  In August we have a month of Friday evening social tennis events starting from 6.30pm. Club Teams

Men, ladies and juniors take part in several local leagues, playing against other clubs in Hertfordshire and the area around Aylesbury, all through the year. For more information go to our Club Teams & Fixtures page.

Coaching

Our Head Tennis Coach Chris Stringer and his team of qualified coaches offer a comprehensive range of coaching services for players of all ages and standards. Coaching sessions run in both group sessions and on a one-to-one basis sessions during the day, evenings or weekends. Non-members are welcome to sign up to group coaching sessions subject to a non-member fee. Coaching where possible is kept to the indoor courts courts, 6a and 6b and then courts 1,2 & 3 to free up courts for general members.

Juniors

The Club has a large junior section and we actively promote junior tennis through our coaching programme, junior nights, junior competitions and box leagues. Non-members are welcome to sign up for coaching courses subject to a non-member fee but are not permitted to attend junior club night on Fridays. Click here to go to our Junior section.

Club Tournament

We hold an annual Club tournament which is open to members of all ages and standards. Matches are normally played in  throughout May, culminating in a finals day in mid-June. Indoor Tennis Centre

The Indoor Tennis Centre (ITC) courts are available for members and non-members to hire and are also bookable through the kiosk at the Club or on the website. Click here for more information and rates.

Guests & Visitor Fees

Senior members may bring guests to the club. A member may only bring the same guest up to 6 times a year. All guests must be signed into the black visitors book by the TV in the Players bar and a visitor fee paid. Visitor fees can be paid by purchasing stamps from the stamp machine and inserting them into the book by the guest name. It is important that guests are signed in for insurance purposes.

Visitor fees are currently £5 per senior guest and £2 per junior guest. Please note that the stamp machine only accepts £1 coins.

Non Members

Non members are welcome to book the indoor courts or 'pay and play' on one of the outdoor courts (term and conditions apply). Indoor court rates can be found on our Indoor Tennis Centre page. Outdoor 'pay and play' rates range from £8 to £10 per hour depending on the court and hirings are for a minimum of 90 minutes.
