AllClubSocialSquash and Squash 57Tennis

Welcome to the November edition of this brief monthly newsletter, exclusively for our women and racketball members.

And a welcome in particular to new club member Rosie, who has moved to the area and knows us through the Army squash team - Rosie is their organiser.

Wednesday evening women’s squash training 7pm - 8pm

It’s great that this is now a regular appointment in the diary for a number of you - and thank-you to Lily for running it when Grace is away at a tournament!

If you’re not in the WhatsApp link for the group, message Grace on 07809 647554.  All abilities are welcome.

Team matches

It’s been brilliant to field a team in the Herts Ladies League for the first time in about 10 years.

Massive congratulations to everyone who has played so far - taking the plunge and having a go!

Results may not have gone our way so far, but the opponents have usually been doing this for a good while longer and know the ropes.  Playing on different courts, having a marker, playing in front of a few people, marking a game - team matches take a bit of getting used to.  We’ll get there!  The main thing is to enjoy the evening.

Tournament success

In last month’s newsletter, we mentioned that Natalie and Lily were about to go to Nottingham to compete in the England Junior U17 Championships.  They did brilliantly:  Lily finished a highly creditable 20th and Natalie achieved an amazing 7th spot.  Fabulous performances!

Grace continues to rise up the rankings.  This month she won her first PSA tournament, the Northern Joe Cup in Manchester.  Seeded 5 going into the event, Grace beat the world number 67 and 72 on route to the title!  Looking forward to seeing your new Highest World Ranking, Grace, when the monthly listings are issued on Wednesday.

Club shirts

Lily is getting your views on club shirts - for the ladies team and for general play at the club.

Ideally, we’d like to go with Dunlop branded gear, to make a reasonable match with the shirts that we did pre-pandemic, and which a number of people bought.  But we’ll go with your choice.

That’s all for now, regards and hit those nicks!
