**UPDATE** Club Closure - including outdoor tennis courts

3rd May

We are hoping for another government update later this week which might give us a better idea on when and how we might be able to get back to playing at the Club. Watch this space!

23rd March

Following this evening's announcement from the Prime Minister, we regret to inform you that with immediate effect the outdoor tennis courts will be closed until further notice.

Club Council

 *********************************************

20th March

Dear members

In line with this evening's advice from the Government, we regret to inform members that as of midday 21/03/20, the Clubhouse, fitness suite and ITC will be closed until further notice. To avoid any doubt, during this period of closure there will be NO access to squash courts, toilets/showers or the sauna and the bar will be closed.

All group coaching sessions for both squash and tennis are cancelled until further notice. The suspension of the box leagues, Club tournaments etc. outlined in the last email will remain in place.

At this time, a decision has been taken to keep the outdoor tennis courts open because we feel that use of the outdoor tennis courts will pose a minimal risk of spreading the virus providing participants always heed the government advice by distancing themselves and responsible use of hand sanitisers. This means keeping at least a metre apart throughout their activity and using hand sanitisers before, during and after their game. This will be reviewed overtime.

Additionally, we have decided to open access to the outdoor tennis courts to Squash members until the Clubhouse is opened again.

Any ITC and squash court bookings will be refunded in full to the relevant member’s account. This may take a day or so.

At this time, no official notification has been received about the Wimbledon Championships and any ticket allocation that might be made to members of the Club. More information on this will follow in due course but if the Championship does go ahead, it is highly unlikely that we will be able to complete the draw at the Club as in the past.

The Club recognises that some members will be suffering financial hardship as a result of the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic and at the same time it is inevitable that the Club will suffer a loss of income. The Club relies on subscriptions to maintain our facilities and wherever possible, we ask that members support us by renewing their membership by 1st April. However, if you are unable to pay your subscription at this time then you should contact the office and we can discuss options to defer payment.

At the same time as we request that you support the Club by renewing your membership, the Club Council acknowledges that we are unable to continue to offer the facilities that members reasonably expect. At the appropriate time and once we have a good understanding of the period that facilities will be closed, we will assess the appropriate level of compensation to offer to members. We know we can rely on your support whilst we deal with these

unprecedented events.

Your understanding and cooperation are much appreciated at this very challenging time. We have a very special Club which plays an important part in many of our lives. We will try to re-open our Club as soon as it is prudent to do so. For your information, Mike Hawkes (Club Chair) and office managers will be at the club tomorrow morning from 10am.

Best wishes

Club Council
