Welcome to the Tennis Section
We are very proud to be an LTA certified Club. Tennis membership at BLT&SRC offers you year-round social and team tennis, a competitive singles league, regular tournaments for all levels, a very strong junior section. A large team of qualified tennis coaches run group coaching as well as one-to-one lessons.
The club has 2 indoor tennis courts and 11 outdoor tennis courts, all of which are floodlit. Our courts are a mixture of carpet, synthetic grass, artificial clay and tarmac sufaces. Click here for a court map showing court numbers and surfaces.
The floodlights cost £5.20 per court per hour and the lights are bookable through the kiosk at the Club only. Tennis facilities are available from 7am until 11pm daily.
We run a competitive all year round box leagues for both singles and doubles which is a great way to play more tennis and meet other members. Wimbledon Draw and British Tennis Membership (BTM)
As an LTA affiliated Tennis Club we are allocated a number of pairs of Wimbledon tickets each year. The Club holds a ballot in April where members are pulled out of a hat at random and tickets are allocated accordingly. To be eligible to enter the draw the LTA stipulates that all club members are also members of British Tennis, and have Opted-In to the process by the Februray cut off date. It’s free to join! If you want to know more about the benefits and to join British Tennis please visit the following website http://www.lta.org.uk/britishtennismembership. Watch out for an email about the Wimbledon draw which is normally in April or May – you will be asked to put your name up on the tennis notice board to enter along with your British Tennis Membership number and you will be required to attend the ballot in order to win tickets. All club members over the age of 11 yrs of age are eligible to enter the draw.
Guests & Visitor Fees
Senior members may bring guests to the club. A member may only bring the same guest up to 6 times a year. All guests must be signed into the black visitors book by the TV in the Players bar and a visitor fee paid. Visitor fees can be paid via the kiosk and signing them up in the book by the kiosk. It is important that guests are signed in for insurance purposes.
Visitor fees are currently £6 per senior guest and £2 per junior guest.
We normally hold 2 open days each year in May/June and September. On these occasions we waive the adult member joining fee of £50. The Open Days are a great family day out and include free coaching and play, mini tennis games and prizes, exhibition matches, a bouncy castle and BBQ.
LTA Accreditation and Safeguarding
We are an LTA registered Club and as such have to pass rigorous standards in safeguarding and coaching and playing facilities. All our coaches are DBS checked and have to be in order to gain and maintain their coaching licence and for us to remain a registered Club. For more information, you can visit the LTA Safeguarding Standards area of the LTA website here.
Non members are welcome to book the indoor courts or 'pay and play' on one of the outdoor courts (off peak only and terms and conditions apply). Indoor court rates can be found on our Indoor Tennis Centre page. Outdoor 'pay and play' rates range from £12 to £15 depending on the court surface and hirings are for 90 minutes. Outdoor courts can only be booked by non members in off peak times and to fit around club activities and matches, and only up to 6 times a year. Only one court at at time may be booked by a non member.
Please contact the Club Manager on 01442 863393 or email email@example.com for more information or to book in advance. The Club office is only manned on a pat time basis so non members should not rely on being able to just turn up and play.
Non members can also attend group or one-to-one coaching sessions but this is subject to a non-member fee. Berkhamsted Tennis Fit (BTF) manage the tennis coaching programme for adults at the Club. For more information on courses, pricing or any other coaching enquiry, please visit www.berkhamstedtennisfit.com or contact Tyrell Diaz Stevens on 07758631370 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please note that we do not offer a racket or ball hiring service so non members will need to bring their own equipment.
