Club Newsletter – April 2026

Welcome to our April newsletter!
Do you like the new club website https://www.bltsrc.co.uk/ ?
Substantially redesigned and decluttered, and hopefully much easier to find your way around.
A couple of bits of recommended reading:
- Club Timeline (About – club history) for a snapshot of local history and the story of how we got to where we are now; and
- Club Etiquette (About – policies & safeguarding) for awareness of things of which we should all have at least a passing knowledge.
Club Tournaments
We had a fabulous Finals Day on Saturday for squash and racketball.
The sun was shining, the bifolds were thrown open, and the club was at its best.
Congratulations to everyone who reached the finals and a huge thank-you to our splendid tournament organisers, Sean O’Shea (squash) and Andrew Bryson (racketball).
The winners of the open events were: Katie Winterstein, women’s squash; Adam Fuller, squash; and Darren Withey, racketball.
Now we turn our attention to Tennis Finals Day on Saturday 27th June. All events are progressing well and fingers-crossed we will have another great day of weather to accompany the matches and bring a full house of families and friends to the club.
Club Open Day
On Sunday 17th May we will be holding our first Open Day of the year.
Do you have friends who may be interested in having a go or re-acquainting themselves with tennis, squash or racketball? Are you a tennis member who fancies giving squash or racketball a go, or vice versa?
Come on down, it’s free!
National Tennis League
Close but no cigar! Unfortunately the team went down to a narrow defeat against Raynes Park at our club on Sunday. But it still leaves us well positioned with all to play for in the Summer League.
Next up are the perennial champions Roehampton away at their sumptuous surroundings on 10th May, followed by Queens at their palatial club on 17th May. Join us for away days at two of the best clubs in the country (visited by another of the best clubs in the country 🙂
Then we have the finals of the Winter League, also at Roehampton from 22nd May to 25th May. Can Berkhamsted disturb the customary hierarchy of the Man City’s and Man United’s of the tennis world? It’s busy, busy, busy for our NTL team.
Bar & Café news
We’re pleased to say that the Honey Ryder Unplugged session on Sunday 10th May is a sell-out! It will be a fabulous evening and we look forward to seeing you there.
Coming up soon will be the football World Cup, 11th June – 19th July. We’ll be showing it!
Until next month, that’s all for now.
